'What is it like inside a wind turbine? In this article, we try to explain the wind turbine to you in detail with an audible memory from an Arcadia employee so that it is completely conceivable. Most people in the United States have never been near a wind farm and have never seen a wind turbine, let alone climbed it. However, one lucky Arcadia employee was able to climb inside a wind turbine during a trip to Denmark and take a closer look. He described what he saw as follows: Being close to such a source of energy was in fact a fascinating revolution. We were able to see inside and around the wind turbine to better understand its performance and appreciate its technology. The wind turbine we climbed was not the tallest wind turbine on the farm, but it was still about 50 meters high and had a capacity of 750 kilowatts, which was enough to power 100 houses. Anatomy of a wind turbine The wind turbine has four main parts: foundation, tower, nacelle and rotor. The main base, which is the foundation, holds the wind turbine and the tower or the same tower is connected to the foundation, and at the top of it, it connects the nozzle and the rotor. The tower is used to climb to the top of the tower. Of course, some towers have elevators, but this turbine we have climbed has ladders that take us up. Wind turbine components 1. foundation Our tour started from the base of the wind turbine. This is where engineers (and tourists like us) can enter the turbine to reach the summit. The foundation houses the blade power supply and is a place where the blades can be turned on and off in case of emergency or maintenance. 2. Tower Climbing 20 sets of ladders was exhausting, but it showed us how monstrous and powerful even the smallest wind turbines are. This turbine consists of about 10 sections, each of which connects its own ladder to the next section. We climbed from the foundation to the top of the 50-meter tower, which became narrower and a little claustrophobic as we went. When we reached the top of the head, we opened a lock to go inside the pot. 3. Nacelle This part is actually the center of the wind turbine and houses all the components of the turbine. To cross this part and reach the top of the turbine, you have to twist and lift yourself towards the generator. When standing inside the nozzle, above the generator, we can see the gearbox and brakes under our feet. The nacelle opens to the sides to expose the generator for maintenance. 4. Rotor Standing on top of the nozzle, we looked back and saw three huge rotor blades behind us. The rotor is the part of the turbine through which the wind passes and rotates the turbine to engage the generator. We were amazed to see the mouth of the rotor blades sinking into the heart of the sky above us. Climbing inside the wind turbine and seeing how it was built gave us a new perspective on renewable energy. Machines are very powerful and they only use what nature gives us. How important it is to have renewable energy and how much it can contribute to a cleaner future. It is better to help each other and push renewable energy forward and keep our homes always on at no extra cost. Source: Arcadia March 9, 2017'
